The beauty of imperfection: Ondřej Janů photography

I have to admit Ondřej Janů is one of my favourite Central European photographer. I bumped into his mysterious fashion editorial for Zuzana Kubickova's SS'12 collection about a year ago and I immediately falled for his dark and melancholic pictures. The series reminded me of the works of Sarah Moon or Paolo Roversi whom I admire so much. In the same year I had the chance to see an exhibition of Janů's works in Design Terminal, Budapest.
The young Czech photographer - born in 1981 - started making pictures with his grandfather's camera. Later he mastered the wet-plate collodion technique and this method remained his most beloved way of making pictures. With all the beauty of imperfection, Janů integrates this classical technique from the past century in today's fashion photography.
